I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in elective surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder, and orthopaedic trauma surgery. My current research projects include experimental and clinical studies in anterior hip replacement, pelvic trauma and trauma outcome; and collaborative experimental research with the US Navy and Monash University Department of Aeronautical Engineering in Finite Element Modelling of the pelvis and hip, and the use of vibration analysis to monitor healing of pelvic fractures. Previous research has included developing the ground-breaking VAC dressing while practising at a Level 1 Trauma Centre in Germany.
I am a lecturer at Melbourne University, Monash University, and Deakin University Medical Schools, and contribute regularly as an invited speaker at international meetings of the AO Foundation and Emile Letournel Pelvic Course, among others.
Complex primary and revision hip replacement, and pelvic reconstruction. I have used anterior approaches to the hip and pelvis throughout my career, and perform anterior hip replacements.
I operate privately at Epworth Freemasons Private Hospital, East Melbourne, and St John of God Hospital Ballarat, am one of two pelvic surgeons at The Alfred Hospital, and hold a public appointment at Ballarat Base Hospital. I consult at Epworth Freemasons Medical Centre in East Melbourne, and Specialists on Drummond in Ballarat.
