Dr Iruka Kumarage had his specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the UK and completed membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 2006. Following advanced training in vaginal surgery and urogynaecology, Iruka practised as a Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in London and Surrey. He moved to Australia with his family in 2013 and joined Ballarat Base Hospital as a Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist. Iruka was awarded the Fellowship of Australian College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 2014. He started private practice in Gynaecology the following year and currently consults in Ballarat and Stawell. Iruka has a wealth of experience in all aspects of Gynaecology and looks after women with menstrual problems, pelvic pain including endometriosis and ovarian cysts, contraception needs, menopausal issues, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fertility issues, urinary incontinence and vaginal prolapse. He does private operating at St John of God Hospital Ballarat and public operating at Ballarat Base Hospital and Stawell Regional Hospital.

I manage and treat a broad range of gynaecological problems including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, and menopausal problems, and perform both open and minimal access (key-hole) surgery. I very much look forward to serving the communities of Ballarat and the outer regions for many more years to come.
